We are excited to announce that the first Annual Men’s Retreat will be held at Beersheba Springs Assembly this August! Back in the early part of 2019, our staff began dreaming about what programs we could offer in the future at the assembly. We were in our 6th year of hosting an annual women’s retreat that has built up each year. We wondered if there would be interest in a Men’s Retreat at the assembly. With much planning and organizing, we are happy to say that this year the Men’s Retreat will take place August 6th-8th.
Reverend Rick Vance and Reverend Tommy Vann will be our leaders for this retreat. Rick is the Director for the Center for Men’s Ministry (United Methodist Men) and will be leading us in teaching sessions on refocusing our life’s journey. Tommy is the lead pastor at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church and will be our guest preacher for the weekend. They both have wonderful ideas that they are bringing for the Men’s Retreat that reach men of all ages. I asked Rick if he could give me a quote about the importance for men to take time for a retreat. Here is what Reverend Vance had to say; “ One of the major challenges facing most men is finding time and space to pause and listen for God’s direction for their life. Taking time for retreat allows for course corrections and refocusing on what matters. It is said that one cannot give or lead when they are empty, so setting aside some time for retreat, refocusing, and renewal is a gift to yourself, your family, your work and your ministry.”
What Rick said is what we are hoping to offer for men at the Men’s Retreat. We have designed the retreat in such a way that men can get away for a weekend, seek Sabbath and wellness alongside other men, and just be present with the creator. We hope you will join us for a weekend away from the stresses of life as we explore the theme Re:Focus together.
