Something’s Hatching!

Something’s Hatching at the Assembly!

February 2, 2021

During this season of hospitality and imagination at Beersheba, we have been painting and caring for the facility, planning new programs, visioning for the future, and working hard to make sure Beersheba is ready for when we can all gather together again.  We are eager to again provide you what we do best: a place apart on the mountain for community and spiritual renewal! Having a place of community that can restore our spirits and activities to do after we pass through this season will be a key part of our healing as we live into a new normal.

One of the visions hatched during this “incubating” time is for Beersheba to become home to a creative arts and spirituality space. The process of creating connects us to the pulse of the divine – opening us, surprising us, healing us, and drawing us closer to God. Engaging our hands and our creativity can help our minds, hearts, and spirits process what we’ve been through, what is happening in us now, and what God is calling us to.

The Beersheba Springs team is excited to announce the creation of The Nest Art & Spirituality Center. The Nest is a space where all can heal, create and grow into wholeness together. The Nest will offer creative spiritual practices to enhance your retreat, experience during free times, or offered as a special workshop/day event. The Nest will be our new hub for retreats based on art and spirituality, such as SoulCollage, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Creating As A Spiritual Practice, Creative Writing, and many more.

The center room of Gill Dorm is home to this new creative space. Gill offers easy access to all of Beersheba’s guests and visitors coming for day experiences. The Nest will not change the availability of Gill but will allow us to repurpose a rarely used space. Minor repairs and painting are already underway – watch on social media for updates on the transformation. You can also read through our Vision for The Nest.

Will you help us “feather The Nest” this season? Your support will help the vision fully take flight as we prepare for The Nest’s first visitors when we can safely gather together again. Be a part of this new way that Beersheba can offer people hope, healing, and creative connection to God. In March, we will host a virtual auction and an at-home Art Box fundraiser. We will be reaching out to churches, Sunday school groups, and others.  We are also accepting donations of well cared-for supplies and equipment. If you or your church want to support The Nest, please contact Sarah at 931-692-3669 or sarah.ratz@tnumc.com.
